The site is located near the pristine rivers of meenachal flowing from the vagamon hills. The client's love for traditional elements with raw textures and exposed material surfaces makes the built environment interesting.
This house consists of 3 bedrooms and a study/multipurpose room, dining and living which intersects at the staircase allowing a double height space. The staircase is enhanced with a light well that lits up the indoor garden along the wall. The sitout looks into a courtyard, 'tulsi thara', and a 'kal vilakku' along with the raw exposed laterite wall that divides the 'poomukam' from the entry, creating an interesting space.
The context itself have sacred groves around it filled with its lush green environment. The design retrofits the idea of tradition into the context. There are green spaces inside-out the building which brings joy to the users. This also awakens the sacredness of the house.
